India’s Next Export Wave May Come From Smaller Businesses, Says Shubham Bibave, With FlairList Global Expanding Global Reach
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

India’s export economy is entering a broader phase of growth. International trade was once largely associated with established exporters and major trading houses. Today, smaller manufacturers, food processors, agricultural businesses and specialised suppliers are increasingly looking overseas for growth.

India’s combined exports of goods and services reached approximately US$863.1 billion in FY 2025-26, according to government figures, underlining the scale of the opportunity.

For Shubham Bibave, the next question is how more Indian businesses can become reliable international suppliers.

The Exporter Is Changing

A business no longer needs to be located in a major commercial centre to think globally. A smaller manufacturer can supply an overseas distributor, while a regional food or agricultural business can find demand for specialised products.

Digital connectivity has made these relationships easier to establish, but international buyers still expect consistent quality, clear communication, competitive pricing and dependable delivery.

Start With the Product

One common mistake among new exporters is choosing a country before understanding the product.

Hearing that a particular market has demand for Indian goods can encourage a business to enter without asking whether its own product is suitable. A better approach begins with supply.

What can the company produce consistently? What quantity can it supply? What is its actual cost? Does the product meet the target market’s requirements?

The answers help identify markets where the product has a genuine advantage.

Price Is Not Everything

Competitive pricing remains important, but an export business cannot survive on price alone.

An overseas buyer wants confidence that the second shipment will meet the same specifications as the first. This is particularly important for agricultural products, where grading, freshness and packaging influence repeat purchases.

Manufacturers face similar expectations, particularly with products requiring precise specifications.

A cheaper supplier who cannot deliver reliably may ultimately be less attractive than a dependable supplier with a slightly higher price.

Trade Agreements Are Creating Opportunities

India’s expanding network of trade agreements is creating new possibilities for smaller businesses.

The India-Oman Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement entered into force in June 2026 and provides extensive preferential access for Indian exports across sectors including textiles, agriculture, processed food and engineering.

The India-EU Free Trade Agreement is also progressing through its approval process following the conclusion of negotiations earlier in 2026.

Such developments can change export economics. Lower tariffs can improve competitiveness, but exporters still need to understand HS classifications, rules of origin, documentation and product standards.

A trade agreement creates an opening.

Why Smaller Businesses Can Compete

Large companies have greater resources, but smaller businesses can have their own advantages. They may specialise in niche products, respond quickly to buyer requirements or maintain closer relationships with producers.

A small textile manufacturer may customise orders more easily, while a regional food company may offer products that larger corporations do not specialise in. An engineering business may also serve a narrow but valuable industrial requirement.

The challenge is making these capabilities visible.

Visibility Matters

An international buyer needs enough information to evaluate a supplier.

A professional supplier profile should explain what the company produces, its specifications, available quantities, packaging, production capacity, certifications and expected lead times. Generic claims provide little useful information; specific details help buyers determine whether a supplier fits their requirements.

This is where FlairList Global can contribute to the wider export ecosystem by helping Indian businesses improve their visibility and present their capabilities to international markets.

However, visibility is only the beginning. A profile can generate an enquiry, but product quality, reliability and delivery performance determine whether that enquiry becomes a business relationship.

The First Shipment Is Not the Goal

New exporters often focus heavily on securing their first order. The more important objective should be repeat business.

One successful shipment proves that a transaction can be completed; regular orders show that a supplier has built something sustainable. The largest initial order is not necessarily the best opportunity. A buyer whose requirements match the supplier’s capacity may be more valuable over time.

For Shubham Bibave, this distinction is central to a mature approach to international trade. Exporting is not simply about finding demand; it is about building systems that can serve that demand consistently.

Growth Requires Discipline

Export growth can create problems when businesses accept more orders than they can fulfil.

A manufacturer may accept a large order because the revenue looks attractive, but missing the delivery deadline can damage the buyer relationship.

Agricultural exporters must also consider availability and seasonality before committing to recurring volumes.

It is better to deliver a manageable order reliably than to accept a larger order and fail to meet expectations.

Building a Stronger Export Ecosystem

India’s future export growth will depend partly on bringing more businesses into global supply chains. That requires awareness of markets, trade agreements, documentation, payment risk and buyer expectations.

It also requires better connections between capable suppliers and relevant buyers.

FlairList Global fits into this changing environment by focusing on supplier visibility and international trade connectivity. The broader perspective associated with Shubham Bibave reflects the need for Indian entrepreneurs to approach global trade with preparation and commercial discipline.

Sustainable growth will come from businesses that understand their strengths.

Conclusion

India has the production capability and entrepreneurial base to become an even larger global supplier. The next opportunity lies in enabling more smaller businesses to participate meaningfully in international trade.

For these companies, exporting does not have to begin with dozens of countries or enormous investments. It can begin with one competitive product, one carefully researched market and one reliable buyer.

As trade agreements expand and buyers diversify their sourcing, smaller Indian suppliers have an opportunity to become part of global supply chains.

For Shubham Bibave, this represents an opportunity to encourage a more informed generation of Indian exporters. FlairList Global can support that broader ecosystem by improving supplier visibility and helping businesses present themselves to international markets.
