NSS and DLLE Department extend support to flood-affected orphanage in Chinchwad as part of University’s social responsibility initiative
Pune, (Maharashtra) [India] August 06, 2026: On the auspicious occasion of the birthday of Hon’ble Chancellor, Dr. Bhagyashree P. Patil, the National Service Scheme (NSS) and the Department of Lifelong Learning & Extension (DLLE) of Dnyaan Prasad Global University (DPGU), by Dr. D. Y. Patil Unitech Society, Pune, conducted a significant social outreach initiative by distributing educational materials to orphaned students at Punarutthan Samarasata Gurukulam, Chinchwad.
The orphanage, located near the Pawana River, was badly hit by the recent floods that took place over the last fifteen days. The floods caused heavy damage to the institution’s infrastructure as well as to the educational resources of the children staying there. As the students slowly started rebuilding their lives after this difficult time, Dnyaan Prasad Global University (DPGU), by Dr. D. Y. Patil Unitech Society, came forward to lend a helping hand by providing essential educational materials so that the children could continue their studies without further disruption.
Guided by the visionary leadership and ongoing educational legacy of Hon’ble Dr. P. D. Patil, this noble initiative was successfully conducted on July 30, 2026, to honor the birthday of Hon’ble Chancellor Dr. Bhagyashree P. Patil.
Demonstrating exceptional unity and social empathy, faculty and staff members across all departments of Dnyaan Prasad Global University (DPGU) came together to personally contribute to this noble drive. Their enthusiastic support and shared commitment were instrumental in providing essential resources to the orphaned students, strongly reinforcing the spirit of community service and civic responsibility throughout the University.
Speaking on the occasion, Hon’ble Pro-Chancellor Dr. Somnath P. Patil said, “At Dnyaan Prasad Global University (DPGU), we believe that education goes beyond classrooms; it also means fulfilling our responsibility towards society. This initiative is a heartfelt expression of our commitment to giving back to the community. Chief Operating Officer Dr. Rohini S. Patil shared, “By providing these vital learning resources, DPGU aims to ensure that no child’s education is compromised due to hardship.
